Sonia Krol, PhD

My approach to psychotherapy is based on collaboration, transparency (I will tell you what I honestly think), and finding the humour in life. Together, we’ll unpack the coping patterns that are based on old wounds but getting in your way now and figure out what you need to do differently to live a more fulfilling life.

Areas of Expertise

  • Emotion regulation difficulties

  • Low self-esteem

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Life transitions

  • Perfectionism

  • Anxiety

Psychotherapy

My approach is grounded in psychodynamics. This means that we will work to understand the origins of the issues that are creating suffering in your life. Understanding these origins builds awareness and awareness brings choice to do things differently. When doing things differently, I draw on tools from:

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Single Consultation

Don't think you need regular, ongoing therapy, but would like a psychologist's help?

A single, 2-hour consultation may be helpful.

This service is for those seeking:

  • An objective perspective on a specific situation

  • Concrete solutions to a specific problem

  • To make sense of emotions in a specific situation

When is regular therapy more helpful?

Regular, ongoing therapy is for those seeking:

  • Help with multiple issues

  • To understand the roots of their difficulties

  • To better understand their emotions and behaviours

  • Ongoing support and guidance for how to make changes in behaviour
